Jim Arthur, MLSN, and precision fertilization

This article about MLSN was published in Greenkeeper International in 2018. I suppose it’s one many of you have never seen.

My title for this was “Making Sense of Turf Nutrition with MLSN”, although when published it was shortened simply to “Turf Nutrition.” You can download the pdf here.

I include some quotes from Jim Arthur, including these choice words about soil nutrient analyses (soil tests):

soil chemists, backed by fertiliser salesmen with no knowledge of botany or golf, set up arbitrary standards and analysed soils as a commercial gimmick.

I explain to what degree I agree or disagree with Arthur on the fertilizer topic, and I explain how MLSN works. Specifically, I explain how MLSN differs from the Arthur approach, and from the STERF Precision Fertilization approach, while at the same time being similar to both of them.
