I was a guest on The Tie podcast where I spoke with Walker Simas about “Turf for Dummies.” Well, not quite to that extreme. We still managed to cover a lot of greenkeeping topics, but perhaps I explained the topics in a less technical way.

I think we’ve all seen the prism gauges that can be used to check the effective height of cut. Well, they sort of can be used for that, but there’s a catch.

There are hundreds of posts on the ATC website. Topics range from the 2 green system, aeration, and algae to winter, writing, and zoysia. Some posts get a lot more views than others, and about once a year I update this list of top posts.

Zoysia grasses are grown all over the world. I’ve seen them as far away from the equator as Oregon and Yorkshire. I’ve also seen them growing near the equator. The temperatures and the daylengths vary quite a bit between the equator and those locations far from the equator.

I bought a new book last year in January and got my hands on it in December. It’s the Compendium of Turfgrass Diseases, Fourth Edition, published by APS Press in 2023.
