Thanks to everyone who completed the soil sampling procedures survey. These are the results from the 79 responses, and I include some commentary about how I would do it. 1. Do you take a composite sample?

I know how I do it. As I’ve been thinking about it, and as I’ve asked a few people, I realize there may be a lot of variation in how turfgrass managers are collecting and preparing samples.

A colleague from Canada wrote to me with five comments after finishing this ATC Office Hours with Chris Tritabaugh (or listen as a podcast here). Just listened to your talk with Chris and wish I had the where about to attend it live, as I would have kept the chat room real busy!

I’ve noticed that traffic—just enough traffic—can transform some grasses into an amazing type of surface. I’ve seen this with Cynodon in China, with Festuca in Iceland, and in other places as well, but those are a couple that come to mind.

This question about irrigation arrived and I think it’s worth explaining more about irrigation amounts and frequency. I was listening to the end of your conversation with Chris Tritabaugh1 and you guys briefly discussed using light and frequent vs.

I’ve been curious about which types of content are most preferred by those who follow ATC. So I asked, in a survey last week. I first sent the survey directly to the subscribers of the ATC blog by email list.

I’ve shared the posts from 2021 that got the most views. Then there are these that got the fewest. I think these are more interesting than the top 10, actually. These cover a broader range of topics.

For the fifth year in a row, I’ve taken a look at “turfgrass Twitter” to find some of the most influential and active accounts from the previous year. I cast a broad net to find the industry accounts, and I minimize manual intervention of account addition and removal.

These posts had the most views in 2021. You’ll see there are two main topics that were read the most. The top four posts were about organic matter management and coring and that sort of thing.

This is exactly what the title states. It’s a few things off the top of my head, and a few things I jotted down over the course of the year. All together, it turns out to be a lot of awesome reading and watching and contemplating material.
