Dr. Larry Stowell and I recorded this video interview (back in 2012!) about potassium fertilizer for turfgrass. How much potassium is enough? How should you decide how much potassium to apply to meet the plant requirements, without wasting money by applying too much?

Golf course putting greens in Southeast Asia are usually planted to either hybrid bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon x C. transvaalensis), seashore paspalum (Paspalum vaginatum), or zoysia (Z. matrella or Z. pacifica). I saw these test plots at a golf course in Southeast Asia.

When applying fertilizer to turfgrass plants, there are two general types of application: liquid and granular. Granular products are applied in a dry form, while liquid products are applied as a spray application.

The state of Oregon on the West Coast of the United States is well-known for cool-season grass seed production. From ryegrass to kentucky bluegrass, bentgrass to fine fescue, there are vast fields of grass seed in Oregon.

This bubble chart shows 46 world cities plotted by average temperature, sunshine, and precipitation in August. We see the continuing trend for cities in Asia to have more rain and less sunshine than cities where similar grasses are grown in the Americas or Europe.

This bubble chart shows 46 world cities plotted by average July temperature, July sunshine, and July precipitation. Hong Kong has more than 200 hours of sunshine on average in July; that is twice the sunshine that Kolkata or rainy Mumbai would have during an average July; Miami, Honolulu, and San Diego are salubrious in July with an average of more than 300 hours of sunshine during the month.

In 2006, ATC conducted a survey of the grass types on golf courses in Thailand. Surveys were sent to the more than 200 courses in Thailand, and 41 of the surveys were completed and returned.
